Woodridge (IL) Quick Fact
Woodridge was founded by a housing developer, Albert Kaufman, who was largely responsible for the creation of the village. It was incorporated on August 24, 1959, with fewer than 500 residents. It is named for its location in a wooded area above a steep hillside, known locally as “The Ridge,” which overlooks the DuPage River’s East Branch and the Des Plaines Valley.
