Topsoil Near Me: Plainfield (IL)

These days, when you need something you can obviously do a quick search for it on your computer or mobile device, and soil is no exception. Whenever you’re about to type “topsoil near me” in Plainfield, you can simply call Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply, where you can always acquire correctly treated black dirt.

We pulverize and store our topsoil at our facilities. We also keep it dry and ready for your project in Plainfield.

If you are cultivating a flower or vegetable garden, adding compost will provide organic matter and nutrients that help to break up soil structure for supporting greater growth. This makes compost an excellent garden amendment.

Our choices of compost for Plainfield lawns and gardens include:

  • Purple Cow Compost
For soil aggregation that makes nutrients more available to the plant; 100% plant-based product with the OMRI Listed® seal for organic production
  • Organic Compost
By-product of recycled organic material such as leaves, vegetable scraps and small twigs that become a rich soil amendment referred to as “Black Gold”
  • Organic Mushroom Compost
Composted straw, horse manure and peat

In certain cases a vegetable garden might also require an application of manure. If yours does, our Composted Horse Manure is regularly aged and turned for the fertilization your garden needs.

Once you order the best soil for your project, you’ll decide how to receive it. If you will pick up your soil yourself, simply note that one cubic yard (27 cubic feet) is about 2,000 pounds (one ton). The truck or a trailer you use should be able handle the total load. Also, to ensure proper tractor loading, the trailer or vehicle should not have a cap or a rack*.

Your other option is to have us deliver your soil to your Plainfield home. We can bring from 2 to 12 cubic yards of black dirt, gardening soil or specialty soil mix right to your driveway. For same-day delivery, call us in the a.m.!

Speaking of Plainfield (IL) Landscape…
Like its namesake, Plainfield’s topography is basically flat. Thousands of years ago, land in greater Plainfield used to be part of the bed of proglacial Lake Wauponsee. The lake didn’t hold up long, however, and it eventually drained into the Illinois River valley, leaving a very flat landscape. Much of downtown Plainfield has an above–sea level elevation of around 600–625 feet, with some areas in the western and northwestern parts of the village’s outskirts exceeding 700 feet. This rise in elevation was created by terminal moraines formed during the Wisconsin Episode of the last ice age’s last glacial period that has been recorded. (kiddle.co)
