Morris (IL) Soil: What’s the Proper Quantity?

Good soil is the foundation of a lush lawn, vibrant flowers and vegetables, and bushes, shrubs and trees that become landscaping highlights.

Also important to acquiring the right soil is ordering the right amount. One cubic yard of topsoil (27 cubic feet) weighs around one ton (2,000) pounds, so if you’ll be picking up the soil in a trailer or truck, ensure that the vehicle can suit the load you’ll be taking.

In addition, for proper tractor loading, the trailer or vehicle should not have a cap or a rack. (Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply is not responsible for any vehicle damage during loading or unloading.)

If you would like us to deliver your black dirt (topsoil) or gardening soil to your Morris residence, we can bring from two to 12 cubic yards right to your driveway. You also can call us in the morning for same-day delivery!

Morris (IL) Topsoil and Compost

If all your project needs is quality black dirt, we pulverize and store it onsite. It will always be dry and ready for your application in Morris.

When you’re working on a vegetable garden, compost will add organic matter and nutrients for helping to break up the soil structure. By favoring growth conditions, the compost becomes an optimal garden amendment.

The compost choices we offer for gardens and lawns in Morris include:

  • Organic Compost: By-product of recycled organic material such as leaves, vegetable scraps and small twigs that become a rich soil amendment referred to as “Black Gold”
  • Organic Mushroom Compost: Composted straw, horse manure and peat
  • Purple Cow Compost: A 100% plant-based asset for soil aggregation that makes nutrients more available for the plant; OMRI Listed® for organic production

Should your Morris vegetable garden need manure for planting, our Composted Horse Manure is aged and turned regularly for assisting your goals.

Interesting About Morris (IL)
The world’s first electronic switching system was installed at the Morris central office in early 1960. The system was a milestone in telephone-switching history, leading to the largest sustained research and development program toward a single goal in the Bell System.

After conversion from the existing manual telephone system using telephone operators for completing calls to an automatic electromechanical crossbar–switching system, a few hundred subscribers received dial service from June 1960 through January 1962 from the first mostly electronic system. The new system used cold-cathode electron tubes instead of mechanical relays and switches. For telephone subscribers, the leading characteristic of what is usually called the Morris System was the use of electronic tone ringers that applied up to eight different tones produced by a tweeter rather than the traditional bell ringer.
