The Right Soil for Lemont IL Lawns & Garden Care
Illinois has some of the best soil on Earth. The state is especially known for its black dirt, with Drummer silty clay being the most common.
Having good source soil is a good start for a landscaping project. However, the earth soil alone is not enough to nurture and sustain a vibrant lawn and flower or vegetable garden.
For your lawncare or garden project in Lemont IL to flourish, you also need black dirt or gardening soil that has been properly treated and stored. The right supporting soil will provide the vital foundation for a healthy, colorful landscape and lawn.
When you’re about to start a project in the yard and you’re seeking gardening soil or “topsoil near me” in Lemont, Tim Wallace Soil Mix Supply is your go-to resource with the materials and answers you’re looking for.

We offer different types of compost for Lemont gardens and lawncare:
- Organic Compost – a by-product of recycled organic material such as leaves, vegetable scraps and small twigs that become a rich amendment known as “Black Gold”
- Organic Mushroom Compost – composted straw, horse manure and peat
- Purple Cow Classic Compost – 100% plant-based product for soil aggregation that makes nutrients more available for the plant

Quick Fact Lemont (IL)
One of the oldest American communities in northeastern Illinois, Lemont was originally known as Keepataw (after a Potawatomi chief); a post office also was established in 1840 as Keepatau. The village was later named Athens and then Palmyra. The name Lemont (from French le mont, “the mountain”) was chosen in 1850 at the suggestion of either Lemuel Brown, the postmaster and justice of the peace, or his brother Nathaniel Brown.
